Interview with Author, TV Host and Fitness Trainer: Laeann Amos-Reed
Laeann Amos-Reed is an American personal trainer, businesswoman, author and television personality from Florida. She is best known for her appearances on Red Carpet’s, Music videos and Fitness magazines. Here is an interview with one of the Top Female Fitness Trainers in the Nation:
Krys: Outside of being an Author what other professions do you hold?
Laeann: I am an entertainment reporter/ television host for Access Vibe TV and a published health and fitness author to “A Complete Guide To A Sexier Healthier You”. My love for fitness has always been there, which led me to become a personal trainer. My fitness services includes pre and postnatal fitness for new moms to be, mommy and me workouts as well as group fitness classes such as indoor cycling.
Krys: Were you always fit prior to having your son?
Laeann: Yes, I was always fit. My pregnancy did not cause my weight gain. During my pregnancy, I worked out and gained only 18 pounds. However, my weight gain started when my mother became ill and had spinal surgery. It was no longer about caring for myself, my husband and my child. My mother was unable to care for herself, so she became my primary focus.
Krys: How much weight did you gain in total including when your mother became ill and during her recovery?
Laeann: I gained 60 lbs; my highest weight was 220 lbs.
Krys: When did you get the light-bulb moment to lose weight, what triggered your motivation?
Laeann: The light bulb moment came at my family reunion in August 2014. In my mind I looked one way, but when I saw pictures on Facebook, I was shocked. I knew if I wanted to get back on camera, I had to lose weight to continue working. My coach Carmella Cureton helped me to take my body to the next level.
Krys: As a Mother and Entrepreneur, what advice can you give to other mothers about reaching their fitness goals?
Laeann: My advice would be to think of your child’s future. Your health plays a major role in that, as your child grows you are going to want to enjoy running and playing with them without worrying about being out of breath and feeling tired. So my advice is to get up and get active NOW! Don’t make excuses.
Krys: How do you think motherhood has change you?
Laeann: Motherhood has changed me for the better. When I look at my son I always think about ways to make his life better. His well-being comes first which starts in the home. My husband and I believe healthy habits should start when you are young so as you continue to grow into an adult, these habits will stick with you. I love the fact that my son mimics my workout moves. To him it’s fun and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be!
Krys: You’re always in style, whether on a Red Carpet or in the Gym. Where can others get similar workout clothes?
Laeann: Thank you I really appreciate that. All of the workout clothes that I wear are from my workout line -Gymni Athletics (www.GymniAthletics.com).
Krys: What’s the biggest mistake that fitness newbies make?
Laeann: The biggest mistake is nutrition. When most people say they eat healthy, they don’t realize that if they use the wrong ingredients it could turn the entire meal to the equivalent of eating 3 cheese burgers.
