Cynthia Nixon Broadway Bound In Little Foxes

Cynthia Nixon

Sex And The City star Cynthia Nixon is Cynthia Nixon Broadway Bound since she will be starring in a spring revival of “The Little Foxes” on Broadway.

Cynthia Nixon will actually be alternating the two major female roles of the play with Laura Linney.  The production will be at the Manhattan Theater Club and will be directed by Daniel Sullivan. The play is from Lilian Hellman’s 1939 original. Cynthia Nixon will alternate the roles of Regina Giddens and her sister-in-law Birdie Hubbard with Laura Linney. This a rare approach to play casting and I bet it will be interesting. In the 2000 Broadway show, “True West”, Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly alternated the two lead roles.

The story line of the play is that of an aristocratic Southern Alabama family and their vicious battles over money and a promising investment. This is the fourth revival of the show since 1997, which starred Stockard Channing and Frances Conroy. “The Little Foxes” starts in previews on March 29, 2017 with the opening on April 19, 2017 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater. This production is joining a MTV Broadway season which already includes “Heisenberg” and “Jitney.” Cynthia Nixon has worked on Broadway before and starred in MTC’s staging of Wit and in 2006, she was in the play “Rabbit Hole.”

Cynthia Nixon has stated that, “I think I come from a family of worker bees. We work, we work, we work.” She said she has had a strong drive to be a successful actress. She worked hard as a student and from the ages of 12 to 22 and combined her school and her acting. Cynthia said, “I went to very demanding schools. I think that was really helpful to me. I was very focused on the idea of balancing these two things – that I would try and do the best I could by my career without letting my schooling slip.”

I have to say that Cynthia Nixon’s hard work has paid off and I have certainly enjoyed her acting roles. Cynthia Nixon is a cancer survivor and has not let it get her down. She is quite amazing. Of course my favorite is still her role of Amanda Hobbes in Sex and the City. Do you think you will be seeing Cynthia Nixon in The Little Foxes?
