Black Girls Rock! Book Coming Soon

Beverly Bond, founder of the annual Black Girls Rock! Awards show, will publish Black Girls Rock!: Celebrating the Power, Beauty, and Brilliance of Black Women, in fall 2017.

The book will be a collection of power photography, inspirational advice, poetry, as well as affirmations. It will showcase the variety of achievements by Black women all over the world – some famous and some not. It’s important that women, regardless of who they are be recognized for their strength, character, and power.

Bond says, “The book will affirm, elevate, and celebrate the unique narratives and rich experiences of Black women and girls around the world for generations to come.”

The Black Girls Rock! Awards show celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and is a staple event for the Black Entertainment Television (BET) network.

After arriving in New York at the age of 17, Bond pursued a modeling career with Wilhelmina Models. She was booked by major clients such as Nike, Guess, Nordstrom, and Diesel Jeans.

An avid record collector, she started spinning records at local night clubs as a hobby. She later turned that passion into a new career as a DJ.

Bond’s work as a community leader has earned recognition, including one of Essence Magazine’s 40 Fierce and Fabulous Women Who Are Changing the World, placing her alongside Michelle Obama and Oprah.

Bond recently posted on her Instagram page that she was speaking at the United State of Women Summit hosted by the First Lady and Oprah. “So many visionary bossed-up rocking women who inspire me and who are committed to empowering girls around the world will be there.”

A model, DJ, business woman, mentor, television producer, and now author, she embodies the movement that has grown over the last 10 years. We can’t wait for this coffee table read to hit shelves next year.
