Elle Fanning has been very busy on The Neon Demon press tour and her stylist, Samantha McMillen has been picking out more grown up fashions for the star.

Elle FanningElle Fanning is just 18 years old and she has just gone to Cannes for her first time. Elle Fanning is the young actress who is the younger sister of Dakota Fanning. Fanning recently graduated high school and is out and about with her new adult looks. Elle’s most recent film is Nicolas Winding Refn’s, The Neon Demon. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in mid-May and she has been traveling around the world since. Samantha Mc Millen who has been Elle Fanning’s stylist since she was thirteen and has been with the star for most of the press tour.

McMillen had this to say about the tour, “I was really happy and a little bit emotional watching it,” Samantha continued. “As an adult now, you start to see things a little bit differently and you can try things that are slightly more mature and see how it fits and how it works and if you can carry it off. It’s a different thing, a different mindset, and I think that she’s ready for it and she’s all in.” When McMillen choose Elle’s looks, she considered referencing the movie and she also wanted to be sure that everything felt “very Elle.” In thinking of the movie, she considered glitter and sequins. As for Elle, the styles needed to be a little bohemian, always regal and ethereal. Elle’s stylist said, “Things that might be too princess-y for somebody else can work on her, because she’s tall and she can carry it off and also has that sensibility about her.”

Elle Fanning wore the first dress she tried on during her fittings, which was a stunning Zuhair Murad to the Cannes premiere. After the premiere, Elle changed into a mini Alexander McQueen dress. McMillen continued to incorporate elements of the film into Elle’s looks. Samantha said, “The movie is about fashion and the modeling world and about beauty… We incorporated those elements into everything, where we could.” She went on to talk about Elle, “She doesn’t want to wear the same thing that everybody else is wearing. She has always had a knack for seeing and picking out pieces that are intrinsically her, but also unique to what anybody else would choose in a particular situation and she generally knows what’s going to look good on her and what she can pull off.” She added, “It’s really a collaboration and a team effort.” What do you think about Elle Fanning’s new grown up look?
