Glee actress Naya Rivera is officially cut from the show’s Season Five finale! Naya, 27, was originally slated to appear in the final episode, but her character, Santana Lopez, has now been written out of the script all together.
What’s Glee without Santana’s sassy comments and amazing voice? Seriously, we’re NOT happy with Naya’s sudden departure from the hit TV series. According to E! Online, Naya is NOT fired, but she won’t appear in this season’s finale AND possibly any of Season Six (since the cast hasn’t been decided yet).
“[Naya] isn’t fired and her not being in the finale has nothing to do with Lea. I don’t know where these stories are coming from, but they are not true,” a Glee source tells E! Online.
After all of the rumored feuding that has happened between Naya and Lea Michele (who plays Rachel Barry), Naya’s sudden exit from the show has the TV gossip world buzzing. Starting in April, rumors about Lea and Naya fighting and talking behind each other’s backs surfaced (from both TMZ and US Weekly).
Whether or not these fights actually happened is unknown, but Naya’s camp claims the finale script changes have nothing to do with the supposed feud.
“Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from Glee are absolutely untrue. End of story,” Naya’s rep tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Thank goodness Naya wasn’t fired — or at least not yet! Despite being cut from the upcoming season finale, Naya is still a Gleek. Last night, she tweeted her excitement for the newest episode. “SO excited to watch Glee tonight! #doowop #shirleymaclaine #fancy,” Naya tweeted.
Naya’s Season Six fate is still unknown (the full cast won’t be determined until this June) — but we’re hopeful she’ll be back for the final season with the rest of the original Glee cast!
