Helena Bonham-Carter is someone you may think of as a bit quirky, but she is an amazing actress who is very versatile.
Most recently you may have seen Helena Bonham-Carter reprising her role as the Red Queen in Alice Through The Looking Glass. Tim Burton produced her latest film and for many years was her partner. Sadly, Carter and Burton have now split. Helena made her name as the quintessential English rose in period dramas as well as many darker imaged roles. Many will remember her as Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. In 2015, she played the fairy Godmother in Cinderella. Helena is versatile and a great character actress.
It was recently announced that the Dark Shadows actress will be starring in a miniseries called Saint Mazie. This project is being developed and produced by Helena Bonham- Carter with Faye Ward’s Fable Pictures and Scott LaStaiti’s Palantir Group. Helena will portray Mazie Gordon Phillips. The role is about the real life character written about by Joseph Mitchell in the 1940 New Yorker.
Fay Ward had this to say about the role Helena will portray. She stated, “Mazie is a restless, independent woman who embodies the essence of 1930’s New York. Our story unveils a woman in the middle of her life, a local legend who lifted the spirit of a community and yet barely moved beyond the perimeter of two square miles. She was in love with the streets and the people; she saw beauty in the dirt. It is exciting to think of Helena on-screen oozing the spirit of this courageous woman. Clara’s witty and political voice is perfect for Mazie and her world.” Helena should be amazing in this role.
It was also announced that Warner Brothers has recruited Helena Bonham-Carter for its Ocean’s Eleven spin-off. It’s alleged to be an all-woman lead cast and has been reported that other co-stars will include Mindy Kaling, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. Sounds good to me. Be sure to watch for Helena Bonham-Carter in this new upcoming but still pretty hush film. Are you a fan of Helena Bonham Carter?
