3 Reasons Why Skinny Jeans Are Bad For Your Health

Skinny jeans being bad for your health isn’t new information …however, it may be time for a reminder.

Skinny jeans may help women feel better about their bodies in certain cases, but when they can cause actual health problems, is it really worth it?  Maybe the self-confidence can take a back seat.  Your physical health in this case may be more important than your emotional health.

1) Bad Circulation

Bad circulation is defined by emedicinehealth.com as: “An inadequacy of blood flow.”  Though poor circulation isn’t a condition itself, it can cause major problems.  Poor circulation is caused by many things and skinny jeans are one of those things.  Think about it — pants that are too tight are pretty much suffocating your legs.  Poor circulation can cause a few different symptoms.  In fact, you could be in so much pain, you could need surgery because of it.  If you’re wearing skinny jeans and you feel any of these symptoms below, you should handle the situation immediately.

Poor circulation can cause:

  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Throbbing or stinging pains
  • General pain
  • Muscle cramps

There have been numerous reports of skinny jeans causing these issues.  Back in 2015, there was a woman in Australia who wore skinny jeans as she helped her family move.  By the end of the day, her feet felt numb.  She fell to the ground and was there for hours before she was found.  From there, she was taken to the hospital.  Her calves had swollen to the point that it was impossible to take off the jeans without cutting them.  According to the report, it was four days until she could walk by herself again.

2) Digestive Issues

Your skinny jeans could be squeezing your abdomen.  So tightly, in fact, that you can have problems with your stomach and other organs.  Back in 2012, reports were coming out that too tight clothing could lead to problems with your food digesting.  This could even lead to heartburn.  On top of that, you also could have issues with your bladder because of skinny jeans.

3) Fungal Infections

Tight clothing has been proven to cause problems around your vaginal area.  Because the clothing isn’t “breathable”, that area becomes the perfect breeding ground for bacteria.  This causes many problems, including yeast infections.

Instead of squeezing yourself into uncomfortable jeans, opt for something with more room.  In the long run, you’ll be better off.
