When I started my blog almost 6 months ago I honestly didn’t know how much work it would be…
I spent countless hours staring at my computer with heavy eyeballs trying to figure out how to customize my WordPress theme, configure the plug-in, enable the widgets, make the graphics, etc. It can be very time-consuming particularly if you have a full-time job. It’s easy to get caught up in it all and get way too stressed over minor things. Now that I’ve done my research, I’ve compiled a list of things to help my female bloggers out there optimize their time by using these simple tricks.
1. Add Images
When I first started blogging, I didn’t have that many photos and I wasn’t really into using pictures from Google. As a result I didn’t add many images to a lot of my blog posts.
In the end it made my posts less engaging. So if you don’t have a camera, look into using stock images. There are a lot of free options just a Google search away. This will spice up your content.
2. Schedule Social Media
This was a lifesaver. It’s not enough just to hit the publish button. You need to promote several times on every social media channel that you feel comfortable using. I don’t recommend trying any that you are not good at. Scheduling social media using Hootsuite, Buffer or Facebook is a life changer and time saver. These tools, if you auto-schedule them, will pick optimal times for you to post. All you have to do is create the social media copy and you’re on your way.
3. Make Unique Graphics
You know you love yourself a good meme. Take a quote from your article or the title of your article and use Canva, Pic Monkey, Wordswag or BeFunky to create something unique. Set yourself apart. Make sure your graphics are “on brand” and use fonts and colors that are associated with your blog.
4. Don’t Put All Your Information Into Large Paragraphs
Trust me this will improve your readers’ engagement and reduce your bounce rate. Try to keep your paragraphs to 4-5 sentences per paragraph. Add cool headlines or images in between.
5. Find Your Focus Early
Stick to writing posts that are in line with your goal and targeted audience instead of what pops to your head randomly.
6. You Don’t Have To Do It All At Once
Take your time. So what if your blog isn’t where you want it to be? Keep plugging at it and it will all come into place.
7. Make Sure To Interlink
Interlink your old content and your new content into ALL of your posts. This will increase the average time someone spends on your site and not have your old work collect cyber dust.
8. Don’t Stress
Blogging is supposed to be fun! Remember this is for you and not for anyone else. Don’t feel forced to write something for others.
