How do you find your passion and where is it hiding within your soul?
What’s your passion? What do you want to do when you grow up? What’s your dream job? These are questions we have heard over and over again throughout the course of our lives. If I was asked any one of those questions a year ago, I wouldn’t have had an answer. In fact, I took an entire class on finding vocations and I was the only one who had no idea about what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to help others and be happy in whatever job I was going to have, but I didn’t know what I really wanted to do. I began to ask myself a series of questions to find out how do you find your passion.
What are you good at? What makes you happy? Where do you want to be in 10 years? I assessed my strengths and I knew I was good at English and writing. That was something that I have always enjoyed. I also realized after a lot of thinking and soul-searching that I would not be happy having a traditional office job. That just wasn’t something that I personally would enjoy or thrive in. Of course if I needed to get by and make money until I could pursue my passion, I would do it, but it’s not something I could do long term.
When I thought about where I wanted to be in 10 years, I knew that I wanted to be financially stable, have great relationships with the people I love and be happy. Truly and incandescently happy. I found my passion through searching for my happiness. So if you are still searching for your passion, start searching within yourself. Follow what makes you happy. Think about what you are good at and see if you can take all those skills and combine them into something that will not only be enjoyable, but lucrative. As the saying goes, love what you do and do what you love. If you follow that advice you will never work a day in your life. Everything will fall in place and you will enjoy getting up in the morning instead of dreading it. Until then, keep working smart. I promise it will pay off. Enjoy your journey!
