Break out those dusty overalls from the ‘90s because this one-piece trend is flying back into the fashion world. We will admit that we don’t hate this look. Some of our staff even wear this ’90s trend on the regular. The word “overalls” can often be associated with disgust or negativity… BUT we have come to love this style for so many reasons.
Hollywood’s hottest ladies know how to rock a good pair of overalls. Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio (above, left) casually flaunted a pair of capris denim overalls while out and about. She paired the denim one-piece with a knit white top and a cute pair of tennis shoes. TV presenter Alexa Chung (above, middle) rocked a pair of oversized short overalls. She looked super hip and cute! Disney star Peyton List (above, right) showed off a pair of simple black cotton overalls (similar to Rag and Bone below). This is a great pair of overalls that can be dressed up OR down for any occasion.
New York Fashion Week was all over this trend. DKNY, Rag and Bone and Alexander Wang were a few of the designers who brought overalls back to the runway. They each styled the overalls SO differently. The models were strutting in denim, leather AND fabric material overalls. DKNY went for the traditional denim look with a long peacoat over the entire ensemble. Rag and Bone showed off a pair of casual and chic black cotton overalls. Alexander Wang’s version of this one-piece trend was a black leather skirt overall that looked similar to a dress. These ‘90s classics have never looked better!
Today, there are so many different types of overalls — and so many different ways to style them. Printed overalls (above) have become increasingly popular for spring. They are fun, cute and super stylish! If you don’t think you could pull off the printed ones, there are also many choices between the overalls with shorts, skirts and pants OR denim, leather and cotton.
So whether you’re going for a bike ride on the boardwalk or having drinks with friends, you can style this trend to fit the occasion. And you WILL get a lot of compliments for being so bold and stylish.
What do you think about this trend? Will you break out a pair any time soon?
