When curating a closet, one must always consider the golden rule: quality over quantity. Shopping for new pieces to add to your wardrobe can be a little daunting, but if you keep this rule in mind you will end up creating a wardrobe that is worthwhile and timeless. This means looking at the quality of the item and even the brand legacy over the trends of the moment. If you are shopping at Zara, H&M, and Forever 21 the quality won’t hold up as well because these stores produce their fashions very fast, in order to stay on top  of current styles. Instead, do a little research into designers who create classic, high quality pieces that can be worked into your current wardrobe to elevate the overall collective.

With your wardrobe, you are going to want to invest in pieces that will last for years to come, rather than opting for a short term buy. Think “dollar per wear.” You’ll want to invest more money into pieces that you will be able to wear more often, and that will last long. The question I always ask myself before any purchase is simple: “Will I wear it often?” If the answer to this question is yes, than I will go ahead and invest in a higher quality, and often times higher price tag, item.

For instance, a leather jacket is an investment piece that most women want in their wardrobe. I personally would prefer to invest in one quality black leather jacket compared to buying several lower priced leather jackets that don’t last. That’s why I decided to invest in an IRO Paris leather jacket that I can wear with basically anything in my wardrobe. Buying quality pieces, like an IRO jacket, improves your style and elongates the time you are able to wear the piece.

This rule applies for all items that go into your wardrobe. Less will always be more when it comes to your closet, and will actually allow you to pair items more seamlessly into complete looks. Soon you will start seeing major results when you make those quality decisions, and it will even diminish those early morning struggles of tearing apart your room to find the perfect outfit.
