Believe it or not, summer is actually coming! The season officially begins on June 21. Whenever the weather hits double digits, we chop of all our hair to beat the heat. Then we remember we’ve been working all winter to get our hair long. Whether you have long locks or a shoulder-length look, we have the solution to change things up without a drastic cut: Layers!
Cassadee Pope (above, left) shows off the layered look with style. Cassadee has shorter layers that frame her face — perfect if you like a side part. If you want to get Cassadee’s look, tell your hairstylist you what tons of short, chunky layers. This look works best if you like to curl your hair, so keep that in mind. If you wear your hair straight, chunky layers can look severe.
Jennifer Garner (above, right) steals the show with her gorgeous, long-layered look. Jen’s wispier layers give her fine hair texture and volume. This look works best if your hair lays flat — and you want more oomph. Ask your stylist for long layers starting five inches above your longest length if you want to copy Jen’s look.
Malin Akerman’s (above, left) layered haircut is so summery we can’t stand it. Malin has only one-half inch difference between her shorter and longer layers, but the look frames her face perfectly. To copy Malin’s look, tell your stylist you want your layers to start at the bottom of your earlobe, then keep your longer length at your chin. Malin’s hair is also a little bit longer in the front — and she has some lighter highlights to really accentuate that summer blonde.
Faith Hill (above, right) rocks layers like a boss. This style is great if you like to wear a deep side part. Faith’s layers start at her chin and end at her collarbone — and they are all one length (except for her face). Faith has some shorter layers in front to bring the emphasis on her eyes. Her ombre-dyed hair gives her cut and color combo more texture.
